Mission

  • Empowering and supporting men and their families experiencing domestic violence, to be safe.

Vision

  • To provide a Domestic Violence service underpinned by a victim centric and human rights proofed approach aimed at ensuring all victims of Domestic Violence / Coercive Control (DV/CC) receive the required support to be safe. Our service is specific to support male victims and their families.
  • To be the leading victim centric organization supporting men to report crimes of domestic violence to An Garda Siochana.
  • To be the leading national authoritative voice advocating and lobbying for services and safety mechanisms for men experiencing DV / IPV including coercive control in Ireland. Building networks of support that go beyond the signposting of services and include holistic social supports.
  • Men’s Aid regard the Child as of paramount importance in all our interactions with victims of Domestic Violence/Coercive Control. Accordingly, we are fully committed to meeting our responsibilities under The Children First Act 2015 and Children First National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017.
  • To continue and grow our educational support systems, creating awareness in the broader community and society of the prevalence and damaging impact of Domestic Violence , understanding of the criminal nature of such acts of violence and to break taboos as grassroots level.

Our Core Values

  • Confidentiality:   Each team member respects each person’s privacy, we abstain from sharing personal or potentially sensitive information about each other, our volunteers, our board members and our clients, in particular if information is shared in confidence. Mindful we have a duty of care to ourselves and our clients and will take the initiative to raise any safety issue, on a case by case basis such as a child protection matter.
  • Professionalism :  We conduct our duties in a professional manner at all times. This relates to our attitudes, behaviours and communication with each other and with all stakeholders we come in contact with.
  • Respect:  We demonstrate ethical behavior and act responsible amongst our community in the DSGBV and amongst wider stakeholders.
