Andrea McDermott – Biography

Andrea is the clinical manager in Men’s Aid Ireland and is QQI qualified in the area of training and development. She provides professional training to Gardaí, Social Workers, counsellors, GPs, and all statutory and non-statutory agencies in domestic abuse and coercive control.

Andrea has over 15 years’ experience providing support to men, women and children who are facing difficult life circumstances including domestic violence and coercive control. She is professionally trained in the areas of domestic violence, youth justice, addiction issues, homelessness, family law, mental health, and all aspects of domestic abuse.

Andrea spent five years working in a residential setting with women and children who were experiencing domestic violence, addiction, homelessness, mental health issues and the many other difficulties domestic violence creates.

She joined Men’s Aid in 2014 and supports hundreds of male victims of intimate partner violence and family abuse every year. Andrea is also a trained Tulsa Designated Liaison Officer providing support to our Social Care Team regarding child protection issues.
